Zira's World

Welcome to my beautiful world!

Arethusana Arethusa

I believe this couple, mating on a roadside soil as gray as the underside of their hindwings, is of a new-to-me False grayling. The sole member of the genus Arethusa has one generation per year, so I hope that the eventual caterpillars will overwinter safely. I would love to return to the place and check for new specimens next season 🙂 August 18. Uzana, Gabrovo, Bulgaria.
